Library Assistant- Social Media-Programs focus-Part Time
$14.81 to $15.25 /hr. depending on experience
The Spanish Peaks Library District Library Assistant-Social Media-Programs focus, will work under the Director, Assistant Director, or Children’s Librarian as assigned. This position will work throughout the library covering circulation duties, assisting with programming, outreach, maintaining displays, and assisting co-workers as needed. This position will have a social media/marketing-programs focus. This is a multi-faceted position where customer service is key. The ability to communicate, follow directions, assist patrons with overall library questions and assist with various library duties is required.
Supervision

Reports to the Director, Assistant Director, and/or Chilidren’s Librarian as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities

Provides basic library functions, including circulation, programs, outreach and customer service.

Administers library cards and handling patron account issues.

Provides quality customer service.
-
Answers telephones.
-
Utilizes library software and assisting patrons with computer and printing needs.

Performs all opening and closing procedures.

Assists with library displays and maintaining overall appearance of library.

Completes shelving, shelf reading, and discharging of library materials.

Empties book drops and handles materials from other libraries.

Handles meeting room reservations and overseeing the set-up of rooms.

Assists in all library tasks and operations as assigned.

Assists with programs and outreach.

Works with minimal instruction alone or as part of a team.

Assists with maintaining library materials.

Demonstrates flexibility in duties and ability to multitask.

Is an energetic, motivated and creative personality with a strong service orientation.

Deal tactfully and courteously with all ages of people in a public service context and with all staff members.

Works Weekend and evening hours.

Social media-programs focus

Creates and post social media posts to Facebook

Sends created posts to the Director for the website.

Creates flyers relating to upcoming programs, distributes them around Walsenburg and Gardner.

Uses Word-of-Mouth advertising whenever possible, during working hours.
Other Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge

Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely in English, both orally and in writing. Multilingual is a plus.

Ability to effectively present information to other employees of the organization and the public.

Reasoning ability including ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions.

Basic mathematical skills
Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent in education. College preferred.

Employees must be able to use computer equipment for extended periods of time; this involves looking at a computer screen several hours per shift, typing for prolonged periods of time, and using a mouse for prolonged periods of time.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet although occasional loud customers and equipment are present.
